FIT TAP DANCE CLASSES
Sarah Jane has a great love of tap dancing having been taught at Sue Turner’s School of Dance, who specialised in the art, and Sarah Jane won many accolades. Since 2011, Sarah Jane has run classes for almost 10 years at Poulton Methodist church on Friday evenings. (Rear car park entrance). This accommodates anyone from the age of 16 upwards and from complete beginner to advanced tapper. The emphasis is also on “Fitness, Friendship and Fun” to ensure a general level of fitness is being achieved as well as learning, or continuing a skill. Classes begin from 6.15pm and depending on attendees, can run through till 9.00pm. Classes are £4.50 and for no less than 45 minutes.
As a rough guide, Total Beginners is a pre-class from 6.15pm, Improvers/Main Class is 7.00 till 7.45pm, Intermediate join in 7.15 till 8.00pm and Advanced join in from about 7.30 to 8.30pm. However, the classes operate on a sort of “rolling” system, where depending on experience and the current attendees, students are encouraged to blend in either at the start or the end of the previous classes, so that eventually everyone meets up and has fun tapping altogether! There is a wide variety of genres of routines, eg Broadway, Irish, Scottish, Indian, Pop, Disco, Salsa, Rock, from easy warm ups, to full West End routines, but every class and individual is tailored to, and all the routines adapted to suit every level, so that everyone gets maximum benefit and enjoyment from a fun exercise.
Newcomers are always welcome, whatever their level. Over the years, many tappers have attended, some come and gone, and some returned, and many have ended up becoming valued friends.
